Jim has practiced Family Medicine for over 15 years. His special interests are preventative medicine and healthy aging. He routinely tests and treats vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Jim leads a very busy family practice in the Orlando, Florida area. Prior to this, he practiced Family Medicine at Bardmoor Family Care in Clearwater, Florida and Physician Associates Family Practice in Orlando. He also served as chairman of the Family Practice department at Morton Plant Mease Hospital in Clearwater. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with Cum Laude honors from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of South Florida in Tampa and completed his family practice residency at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Mark has a strong background in mathematics and started working in the natural products industry in 1993, in both sales and Research & Development. Earlier in his career, he won a People's Choice Award for "Best Tasting Health Drink" from a group of more than 10,000 health food store owners. Mark has launched hundreds of different natural products, sold in more than 30 different countries. He is a current member of the Natural Products Association (NPA) and the Institute for Food Technologists (IFT). He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in Economics.
Dr. VanLue is a family practice physician with interests in: exercise, nutrition, wellness applications and functional medicine. During his extensive medical career, he has owned family practices and been a consulting physician for NBA's Orlando Magic, WNBA's Orlando Miracle, and professional hockey's Orlando Solar Bears. Scott graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Chemistry from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Oral Roberts University School of Medicine and served his residency at the University of South Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Scott holds a Florida state medical license, a license from the American Academy of Family Practice and a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine.
Dr. Steve Talcott is a recognized expert in food processing and phytochemical analysis of fruits, vegetables, and botanicals and conducts research on the appearance, taste, nutritional benefits, and food quality as impacted by natural compounds. These efforts have encouraged fruit and vegetable consumption due to a positive association between plant-based phytochemicals and their role in a healthy lifestyle. His phytochemistry research focuses on individual compounds and compound classes that are isolated and quantified for content, quality, and their role in health-promotion especially following post-harvest, food processing, and storage regimes. Specifically, the focus is related to polyphenolics and carotenoids, key functional elements of high nutrient density fruits and vegetables.
Dr. Talcott was formerly with Silliker Analytical Laboratories and the University of Florida as an Associate Professor of Food Chemistry before joining the faculty at Texas A&M University. He has chaired over 20 Masters and Doctorate student committees.
Dr. Susanne Talcott holds a PhD in Molecular Nutrition from the University of Florida. Her overall research focus is on assessing bioactive compounds in fruits and vegetables, dietary supplements, antioxidant fruit juices and other foods, in their role in the prevention of chronic diseases and the protection of health in an integrative, translational research approach (bench to bedside).
Dr. Talcott is also working in the improvement of quality and determination of health benefits of grapes and wine in collaboration with the Texas Wine and Grape Industry.
Dr. Aruoma was awarded a PhD in biochemistry and MSc in biopharmacy from King's College London, a DSc (Doctor of Science, a higher doctorate degree) in medical biochemistry from the University of London, and a BSc in biochemistry from the University of Sussex and an MBA in business administration from the University of Warwick Business School. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN) and a Chartered Scientist (CSci) of the Science Council, UK and a member of the Institute of UK's Institute of Directors.
Bernie Landes, President, Nutritional Products Consulting Group Bernie's distinguished career in the nutritional products industry spans nearly 40 years. He has been at the forefront of major growth drivers in both the functional food and dietary supplement sectors and has held senior leadership, strategy, science and regulatory affairs positions with industry leading companies in each, including Health Valley Foods (Oat Bran, Fat-Free and Organic foods), Alacer Corp. (Emergen-C) and Zila Nutraceuticals (Ester-C). Bernie served on the Executive Committee of the National Nutritional Foods Association during the negotiation and passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act and was actively involved in developing key areas of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990.
He has also testified in the United States Congress on the issue of Organic Foods. Bernie has organized and served as President of multiple "Blue Ribbon" Scientific Advisory Boards, including that of MonaVie during its peak success years.
Today he provides a complete range of consulting services to a global client base with a focus on strategy, product development, regulatory affairs, clinical research, and ingredient development. He is an elected member of the American College of Nutrition, a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Nutrition Business Journal and the President's Circle of Advisors of the American Botanical Council.
